Thermal Core Insulation Thermal Core insulation utilises one or more layers of TRM material to reflect warmth back towards the sleeper. The TRM layers are designed to minimise internal air movement, enhancing overall thermal efficiency. Compared to earlier models, the smaller die cuts further restrict airflow, maximising heat retention. This refined design results in a significant improvement in both R-Value and real-world insulation performance. Despite these advancements, the insulation remains lightweight and maintains a compact packed volume for greater portability. |

ASTM F3340 R-Value To ensure warmth during sleep, particularly when the ground is colder, it is crucial to understand how effectively a sleeping mat prevents heat loss to the surface beneath. This effectiveness is measured by an R-Value, which indicates the mat’s resistance to heat transfer. The only reliable method to determine this resistance is through a laboratory-tested R-Value. Sea to Summit has consistently provided independently tested R-Values for its sleeping mats. Since January 2020, the brand has adhered to the industry-standard ASTM F3340 test to establish the R-Values of its mats. Although several factors influence a sleeping mat’s insulating performance, the standardised ASTM R-Value test enables direct comparison of heat-loss resistance across different brands. |

Xpress Valve Sea to Summit designed the XPRESS Valve to enhance the speed and ease of inflating, deflating, and adjusting its air mats, providing a more efficient alternative to traditional air mat valves. This innovative valve integrates multiple functions within a single, low-profile unit. It features a one-way inflate port that ensures effortless inflation without air escaping. A rapid dump deflate port allows for quick and hassle-free deflation, while a fine-tune button enables precise adjustments to achieve the desired firmness. The XPRESS Valve is also designed to fit the nozzle of the Airstream pump, which is seamlessly integrated into the stuff sack included with Sea to Summit Air Sprung Cell sleeping mats. Pro Tip: Turning the sleeping mat pump’s inflator bag inside out reveals a nozzle that is perfectly sized for the mini-XPRESS Valve of an Aeros Pillow. |

Integrated Airstream The Airstream™ Pumpsack, a high-capacity mattress pump from Sea to Summit, has now been seamlessly incorporated into the stuff sack of every Air Sprung Cell™ mat. The innovative design allows one end to open for storing the air mat, while the opposite end unfolds to function as a built-in pump. With the ability to be inflated using just a single breath, the Airstream™ Pumpsack requires only two or three cycles to fully inflate the mats. This method is significantly faster than inflating by mouth, while also reducing breath condensation inside the mat and preventing dizziness caused by direct inflation. The Airstream™ Pumpsack is fully compatible with Sea to Summit’s smaller multifunction valve, which is now featured on the updated Aeros pillow range as well as the Air Seats. |

Pillow Lock System The Pillow Lock™ System consists of self-adhesive hook-and-loop patches, which have been included with all Sea to Summit sleeping mats since Spring 2019. When attached to a sleeping mat, these patches keep the pillow securely in place, preventing it from slipping while ensuring they do not catch on clothing or delicate fabrics. All Sea to Summit pillows from Spring 2019 onwards are designed to be compatible with this system. Older pillows can also be made compatible by using an Aeros Pillow Case. |
